Migrating from DD-WRT

Hi all,
I have two WR1043ND routers I am going to be loading gargoyle_1.3.8-ar71xx-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin on directly from the DD-WRT interface. Currently, I'm not very happy with WiFi speeds across my WDS setup and since I've read good things about Gargoyle on top of openwrt I am taking the plunge with this firmware.
Here's what I aim to setup and some of my settings:
WDS between the main router and a secondary router
PPTP server on main router
OpenDNS on main router
Dynamic DNS
Port-fowarding on main router
Static DHCP reservations
My main concern remains wifi performance - are there any suggestions on how to achieve an optimal setup?
Thank you!
