Hi all,
After this thread
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =11&t=8257 I've really realised it's beyond me.
I'm getting pressure from the lady of the house to get it online and running.
I'm willing and more than happy to pay to have someone help get this up and running.
If you have the skills and would like a paid side project feel free to contact me here and I can arrange to either have it sent or arrange a time to work with you remotely.
Thanks so much... Rob

Can you describe your current network and internet setup?
And what exactly your requirements are from Gargoyle?

Hi and thanks for the answer.
I have standard ADSL with Telstra.
I have my main modem/router. It's a Netgear DGND3700V2.
I have my Gargoyle router. It's a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND.
I've successfully installed Gargoyle onto the TP-Link. Then through various tries at getting it to work it became uncontrollable (the link in the OP shows this).
RE: the requirements I want to be able to have guests and particularly, the little ones, connecting to the Gargoyle router and not the netgear.
I want to be able to turn off Wifi to certain devices at certain times, depending on which device.
I want to stop friends of the slightly older little ones coming over with their machines and torrenting. Hence some kind of restriction on new machines on the network.
I want to block access to facebook and certain social media sites after a certain times also and to certain sites altogether.
From a moral perspective I don't want to be draconian, but they're young, they're friends are pirating, they're sneaking their phones into their rooms at night and I want a little control over the network.
I hope the above helps and thanks for potentially looking at this with me.
Rob

Hi mate when you get your router set up you can switch to using OpenDNS. I use it to stop my kids from going on to anything to naughty. I don't lock it all down but...

and it's free

You really should force everyone on the Gargoyle, so you can manage bandwidth unless you have better reasons not to, i.e. turn off the WiFi on your Netgear

Can only be configured if you know their IP address, but they can still access LAN via Wifi but not internet.
If no one else is using Wifi, configure Wifi to automatically turn off at certain hours is the best approach. There is no way around it if there is no Wifi.

Torrent is hard to block completely but you can mostly block it using L7 protocol. Don't use L7 if you use 1.9.x or you will run into reboot loop. Anyone have better suggestion on this?
