Hi, Could you tell us where to download this firmware version and what are the steps to install it on a Router TP-WR1043ND v3.0 (450Mbps) safely?

Thanks
Excuse me, maybe my question is better to put it in this thread ...

Which is the best one for flash my tl-wr1043nd-v3 from STOCK FIRM to last Gargoyle stable FIRMWARE ?

Thank you and excuse for my terrible english!

PD: My ROUTER is exactly this

450M Wireless N Gigabit Router
Model No. TL-WR1043ND v3

Firmware Version:
3.16.9 Build 150514 Rel.72381n
Hardware Version:
WR1043ND v3 00000000

Really should I first install OpenWRT?

https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd

Installation

obtain.firmware and Latest OpenWrt Release - required image file is "openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin" for v1.x routers, "openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v2-squashfs-factory.bin" for v2.x routers. Files can be found in the "ar71xx" directory. You can use the quick links from the table below. If you have "Please choose a file to upgrade" message again and again, filename is probably too long and you have to rename image to for example firmware.bin.
generic.flashing Now write this firmware-file onto the flash-chip of your device

:!: NOTE: If case you have a revision > v1.10 (but not v2.x), you need to flash an elder OEM firmware release first, and only then flash OpenWrt; tested and works credits go to sayboon for his tutorial

:!: NOTE: For revision v3.0, stock FW 3.16.9 Build 151021 or newer won't accept OpenWRT image. I got it working by connecting a tftp server at 192.168.0.66 to a LAN port, copying the OpenWRT image to filename wr1043v3_tp_recovery.bin in the tftp server root, then powering on with the reset button held down for ~20sec.

:!: NOTE: For revision v3.0, stock FW 3.16.9 build 150514: On this new build I was not able to install the OpenWRT image (openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v2-squashfs-factory.bin) using TFTP either!

But to get around that probleme and install the stable Chaos Calmer 15.05.1:

Install the trunk version (openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-factory.bin) using the stock web-gui
After restart OpenWRT has been install but the Web-GUI won't work yet!
Copy the stable ..sysupgrade.bin file to the router e.g. using WinSCP. Give the file a shorter name e.g. sysupg.bin
Now upgrade the router with that image using this command in OpenWRT Linux prompt "sysupgrade -n -F sysupg.bin" again you can use WinSCP or puTTY.
It is assumed that as they say in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL185QYnPg4

to install gargoyle, first, you must upgrade from stock firm, to version openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-factory.bin ,and then install luci, and at last install the version gargoyle_1.9.x-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin to update?

Is ir right?

Just use the image from the one with the most recent date, as that will be most current.

For upgrading from stock, use factory.
For upgrading from gargoyle/openwrt, use sysupgrade.

If your router won't accept the gargoyle image, you'll need to use an alternate method to flash, or try going to openwrt first, then upgrading from there.

I purchased the WR1043ND on the recommendation of the gargoyle website. Unfortunately I got version 3 for which there isn't a file listing in the download listing. I have gone through the nine pages of information here and have read about various successes and failures with getting gargoyle installed on this router.

I am unfortunately not nearly as tech savvy as the members contributing to this forum. It would be really appreciated if one of you could outline a list of steps that a neophyte could do to get this working including the download links. I currently have an airport extreme base station with a static IP address coming into the house.

I have seven family members with a bunch of devices each and one of them is killing my band width quotas. Of course each individual is denying that it is them.

Hi, I've successfully updated my router using this file

Now it put this on status

Status
Device Name:Gargoyle
Gargoyle Version:1.9.X (Built 20160924-1943 git@093be12)
Model:TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v3
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've only used the file "gargoyle_1.9.x-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-factory.bin" to update.

The problem is..., as in my other router (v2), I have set it on "Wireless" as "Client+Ap", but when pulse "Scan" in the "SSID to Join" section, it detects no network ...

I guess it's a bug in this firmware version  so, could you tell me a version that works properly?

Should I upgrade to the version that you indicate me, simply using the "gargoyle_1.9.x-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin" file?

Thank you so much! :geek:

Can you please scan and then provide a system logread?

While you are there, please enter

iwinfo phy0 scan
iwinfo phy1 scan

And post back the results of the log and the two scans.

Ok so the radio can definitely see something.
Can you please go into the GUI and press the scan button, wait until it says nothing is found, and then type "logread" at the console and post the output here?
If you are using Firefox or chrome, it may also be worth pressing F12 before you hit scan to check if any errors show up there.

Thanks

By the way, we can always get you connected manually in a worst case scenario, but hopefully we can figure out what is wrong
