You told earlier that you had changed the modems IP address to 192.168.10.1, it should still be that IP address.
If the WAN and LAN networks are within the same subnet, will any router have trouble doing its job.
Ahh ok - in the instructions of the config it appeared to imply that it should be in the same subnet as the router hence I actually changed it before proceeding. I'll try again

That is the IP address of the WAN port and IP address of the LAN port of the modem, that needs to be on the same subnet.

OK now I am totally confused

Can we use the examples I am providing as i'm struggling on terminoligy and how it fits in.
So modem ip 192.168.10.1
router ip 192.168.1.1
Wan IP 217.155.X.138
Where X is another 2 digit number
At the moment I have set router_ip as 192.168.10.1 but if I browse to this I just get the Gargoyle config again

You cannot do any of this from the web interface. You must edit the file I referenced above.
If your modem IP is 192.168.10.1 then set ROUTER_IP in that file to something in the same subnet as the instruction says in the comment there in the file.
For example
ROUTER_IP=192.168.10.2
Don't forget to remove the comment '#' on that line.

Again, the WAN ports IP address may not be on the same subnet as your private network.
But it is in bridge mode, do those same rules apply.........................
I don't know

pbix you are a genius!
For ispy's wiki
My modem IP is 192.168.10.1 which as stated needs to be on a different subnet to my router. In the modemaccess.sh you set that to an ip (for the router_ip) in the same subnet, for me I set it as pbix said to 192.168.10.2
I can now access my modem
