I will be getting my hands on a wrt1900ac soon so i will do some testing.

Im having seeing this exact same issue on a freshly installed wrt1900acs v1
Gargoyle version 1.10.0 | OpenWrt Chaos Calmer branch
Gargoyle revision ab16f958| OpenWrt commit 216adcf
Built October 25, 2017 | Target mvebu/default
root@Gargoyle:~# opkg list-installed | grep mwlwifi

Was there ever any resolution found ?
