I just got my archer c7 v2a and attempted to install gargoyle 1.9.0 and I am afraid I may have bricked it too. Same symptoms as mentioned by bnimble and others in the thread. I Have tried everything in the thread and no luck so far :-(

Oh, there are two threads now discussing basically the same thing...

Anyway, for debricking perhaps my message in the other thread is useful.

It's not a complicated process at all, but you do need to follow the instructions to the letter.

Woohoo.. I got mine recovered. I followed this process to the letter.:

1. downloaded this .bin file : https://github.com/nsmathew/ConfigsAndH ... covery.bin (click on "show raw") to download

2. Installed this version of tftpd : http://tftpd32.jounin.net/download/Tftp ... -setup.exe

3. set IP address 192.168.0.66 / 255.255.255.0 on my PC ethernet card

4. Connected the ethernet cable to LAN port 1 on the TPlink Archer C7 router.

5. copied the downloaded .bin file in step 1 to the tftp install folder : C:\Program Files\Tftpd32

5a. I had to rename the file to ArcherC7v2_tp_recovery.bin as the the first try failed with an error in the "log viewer" tab that it was looking for that exact filename.

6. start tftp and select the server interface as the PC ethernet card that has the static IP (192.168.0.66) on.

7. click on the "log viewer" tab to monitor the progress.

8. hold the reset/wps button of the router and then power ON the router. Keep on holding the reset button for 8 seconds and release it.

9. The tftp log viewer should show messages similar to:
Connection received from 192.168.0.86 on port 3516 [20/04 19:21:22.788]
Read request for file <ArcherC7v2_tp_recovery.bin>. Mode octet [20/04 19:21:22.788]
OACK: <timeout=3,> [20/04 19:21:22.789]
Using local port 60421 [20/04 19:21:22.789]
<ArcherC7v2_tp_recovery.bin>: sent 31745 blks, 16252928 bytes in 14 s. 0 blk resent [20/04 19:21:36.218]

10. wait for 5mins and try to login using the tplink default IP 192.168.0.1 . ...SUCCESS. (you may need to reboot after the 5min wait)

All good. Will now wait for the stable release of Gargoyle for the Archer C7 V2 before I attempt again.

Thanks All

That is exciting news. I am looking forward to the release. I have been depressed because I can't get Gargoyle on my router.

@all,

Several users with late model Archer c7 v2's who have been experiencing this problem have now tested my image and it works fine.

This is available for download from here:
