if you want someone to try to replicate your scenario and test for a crash, this is important.
it could be very simple, or it could be a strange interaction of your particular set of settings.
Here is a pic:

But as I just experienced a router reboot while these settings were disabled, leads me to believe that the issue is somewhere else but connected to high bandwidth usage.
I am willing to do more testing, I just need some guidance as to where to test and how to gather logs.

hmm. i've never seen that before, limits defined by speed instead of QoS classes. i assume you haven't got QoS enabled then?
learn more everyday lol.
my apologies you were providing all the right details i just didnt realise it!
i'll see if i can replicate the problem.

Hello Lantis,
Thanks very much for the reponse and willingness to investigate.
As I had indicated before, this problem of rebooting spontaneously may not be related to the Quotas section.
I say this because, recently I have experienced roboots from normal network activity such as:
1) Viewing movies from netflix.
2) Children surfing the web.
3) Youtube videos.
4) etc...
It does indeed seem to point to high bandwidth usage putting stress on the network.
But I do know that the hardware that I have is good. (D-Link DIR-835 rev. A1)

This device works with the factory firmware and v1.6.2 extremely well.

Update:
I am going to have to revert back to v1.6.2
The router seems to reboot when there is any reasonable amount of traffic going through it.
If anyone has any ideas on what else I can test to figure out this issue, please let me know.
I have 3 different types of routers that support the Gargoyle 1.7.x firmware and I am willing to test with them.
a) Dlink DIR 835 A1
b) TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1
c) TP-Link TL-740N v1
For now, I need to revert back to v1.6.2 because my family is bugging me and asking me why the network is always disconnecting. (Router rebooting)

I just found the latest release of firmware and I have upgraded the router:
Gargoyle Version:1.7.X (Built 20150604-0528 git@e7e4e5e)
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =14&t=7190
I will monitor to see if the router continues to reboot and report back to the forum.

So far so good, I have tried to replicate the reboot issue by performing download and upload stress tests.
The firmware is:

Spoke too soon, I was just notified by my 15 yr old daughter who came running to me complaining that the internet was not working.

Its rock soild for me, its something about your set that is causing the problems.
I would suggest doing a failsafe reset then enabling only the basics.
How stable is your internet connection?
I seen reports where the client had unstable internet and this caused problems?

I will try this but I have to question the logic because the very same hardware configured the same way using Gargoyle v1.6.2 runs very stable for months, yet as soon as I use v1.7.x and configure it to the exact way as with v1.6.2 it begins to spontaneously reboot.
I would also mention that I have also tried a TP-Link WR1043ND v1.6 and it also reboots when using Gargoyle v1.7.x but runs very stable when using Gargoyle v1.6.2
I will keep you posted on my results when I try a "failsafe reset" meaning " Restore Default Configuration" and then only enable only the basic things that I need to use.

OK, I thought you were having problem with 1.6.2 as well
