Thank you, I'll be sure to give that a try.

It doesn't happen all the time, it just comes and goes when you least expect it. I have no idea what triggers it, can't really find a pattern.

*Update*: The inherent disadvantage of running in privacy mode is that it won't allow you to Edit the settings under Currently Shared Disks as you''ll get kicked back to the Login screen. This is expected behaviour as it loads in a new sandboxed window. The "Show Web Inspector" trick under normal Safari operation (not privacy mode) is useful in this particular situation.

*Update 2*: Emptying caches through the Develop menu also seems to do the trick.

For those new to Safari, you can enable the Develop menu by going to Safari > Advanced > and ticking Show Develop menu in menu bar.
