Reflashing is best in this case

By keeping your settings, you haven't given the new fixes a chance to do anything. They write newer and slightly different configurations.
You kept your old ones :P

Backup and restore will result in the same thing.

Just go from scratch.
You can manually restore your DHCP and ETHERS files if uou are inclined.

Should I reset the entire router and use the factory 1.9.x file or just go to System and do update firmware with the 1.9.x upgrade file?

Download 1.9.1 which came out 2 days ago and use the sysupgrade image.
https://www.gargoyle-router.com/download.php

Do not preserve settings.

Oh wow. Awesome. I was going to check for a new release but figured there probably wasn't one. Thanks for the heads up. :)

I downloaded and installed 1.9.1 and did not preserve settings. This update fixed he issue with the Ethernet connection.

When I set up restrictions it still is not working (unless I am doing something wrong). After I set up the restriction I am unable to connect to the internet via wireless OR Ethernet. The router will show my wifi network for a few seconds and then it goes off, after a minute or so it will turn back on for a few seconds and go back off..... I have to connect my computer via Ethernet and quickly remove the restriction to get it working again.

For the issue with Windows 7, I am still requested to enter password to access all shared folders through gargoyle.

Please share your exact restriction you are applying. I'll see if I can replicate the reboot loop you are experiencing.

Similarly please share your settings for the sharing and I'll see what happens.
I tested that feature quite thoroughly, but it's always possible to miss something.

First I will note that the Router that I am using is a WD MyNet N750 (I am not sure how to get this to show at the bottom of message)

The restriction I want to set is to block all HTTP videos. (I'm not sure how it exactly works but I wanted to test it out... with limited internet I want to block YouTube and other videos).

(At first I tried to set up his restriction using Access Restrictions but I suppose that is not what I want as it blocks EVERYTHING!).
The settings I made under Access Restrictions are...
Rule Applies to : Only The Following Hosts (I entered one of my devices IPs for testing).
Uncheck All Network Access ... Application Protocol : Block Only - HTTP Video.

After that did not work and I figured that was probably blocking everything even though I only selected HTTP Video. I then attempted to set restriction by just changing settings under Exceptions (White List)....
Exceeption Applies To: Only The Following Hosts
Uncheck All Network Access - Application Protocool : Permit All Except - HTTP Video

all other settings in both attempts I left unchanged... and saved changes after each change.

I am not sure how long I should wait to test the changes. After several minutes of the router constantly losing my WiFi network I went back in and Removed the Rule and saved changes.

--------

For Shareing.. I have a few Folders on an external hard drive that I want to have a password to access and others I want to be viewable by everyone on the network with out a password. The Settings I made are...
1 I entered a User Name and Password and added the user.
2 Subdirectory : New Folder
3 Share Name : share_1
4 Settings Apply To : Only This Specific Drive
5 Share Type(s) : Uncheck NFS (I have tested unchecking and checking different selections here multiple times - and NFS did not seam to work at all on anything so I just uncheck it -- I am not sure what it is for)
6 CIFS/FTP Anonymous Access : None
7 CIFS/FTP Users With Access : Select User Name - Read / Write --- Click Add
8 Click Add Shared Disk.

Then I added other Subdirectory folders and made it Anonymous Access as Read / Write. Then Saved Changes.

***Windows 10*** I am able to go to File Explorer and Select Network, Then Click on Gargoyle and It will show all the folders that I have added to be shared. I can open the Anonymous Access folders, and the User Access ones only require User Name and Password.
****Windows 7**** When I go to File Explorer and Select Network Gargoyle
comes up and when I click to open it I am required to enter User Name and Password right away... it will not open and show all the folders like it does on Windows 10.

I am assuming this issue is with settings in Windows 7 and not something in the Gargoyle Firmware.

For your first problem, i can only suggest that Protocol matching is broken and dodgy at best. It used to work quite well until traffic became encrypted. I'd avoid using it. It is the reason the router is rebooting.

I agree that Windows 7 isn't respecting the protocol correctly. The behaviour is correct under Windows 10. I'm not sure how to fix it to make it work under Windows 7.

Thanks for all the support. It's no big deal that these few things are not working how I expected, as long as the main things work decent I am happy with Gargoyle.
