Well like I said, large blanket rules ("I want my computer to always have a minimum of this speed. That should be enough for gaming") are generally NOT a good idea.

This means that you can make yourself lag, whether your other devices are involved or not. You should attempt to target your rules to your games specifically.
If you read the guide here: https://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/do ... eforgamers
You'll see an example of this. This is the process you need to follow. If you want to have a go and then come back to us with your attempt and we can go from there?

for source games like TF2 you'll generally need to include 27005 - 27013 as well.

your screenshot shows plenty of traffic going through your other class but none through your gaming class?

The first test should not be that your ping goes up or down, it should be that you can properly match your traffic into a class.

EDIT: apologies i'm not a big imgur user, i see that you have included the download screenshot.

I added the extra ports

So i have no idea what the numbers mean in the ACC part. I was in a server when screenshotting it.

What am i looking for here?

again, notice how the traffic through your "gaming" class is 0? This indicates that your rules are not working.

I believe that your rules should be matching UDP not TCP here. Gaming traffic is a "best effort" service i.e. UDP, not TCP.

The ACC status being "IDLE" means that it is not doing anything to actively manage your ping. This is because you have no measurable traffic into your gaming class.

I changed all the tcp to udp and still game traffic sits at 0 while in a server.

What else can i try?

Do you know if my port numbers are correct?

These settings worked fine when i just launched TF2.
Check in console what clientport your game is using.
"clientport".

you know i just had a thought... is your PC actually using the 192.168.1.101 address at the moment? can you confirm that?

It wasnt using the 101 address no... i changed it to 126 and now i got traffic in games. No idea why gargoyle isn't happy with me using 101.

Ok so whats the next step? :D

it will use the 101 address eventually. your current DHCP lease hasn't expired yet. by this time tomorrow (probably sooner) your PC will have the proper address.

Now go back and follow all the steps again and see where you get to :)
