as Mac OS is based on a linux subsystem if it says to enter a command just give it a go. It should go through

specifically the tcpdump command should work which is the bit where we are looking for a response from the router.

The OpenWRT support page, didn't turn out to be of much use, either.
I'm going to try testing another culprit, tonight. The power brick. I closed the page already, but another person's account of their troubles (very similar to mine, everything works, but doesn't) identified a mismatched power supply. Looking at mine (odd it would work, and now not) it also appears to be from something else. Not sure what the "Spectre" on it is, but I think the power's off just enough to wreak havoc.
Luckily my neighbor has a similar, if not the same, model router not in use. Worst comes to worst, I will ask to use his and lay this one to rest.
