Hello,
I downloadedOpenWRT but I cannot download the Beta Version 1.15 for AX23. I get an error website with "404
Not Found"

Merry Xmas!
I did now the following:
1) I upgraded to OpenWRT
2) I upgraded then to Gargoyle, the versions you provided the link to
3) I restored the backup of the old router (V1.12) to the new router
4) I replaced the old router with the new one and I saw that the LAN symbol of the AX23 does not light at all. Normally it must be green.
5) I called the Internet Cable company: they cannot see the router behind their modem. Usually they can see that a router is connected to their modem
6) I connected the AX23 directly to a notebook. The notebook shows that there is an unidentified network. I did "ipconfig / all" and then I see that the Ethernet adapter has a connection that starts with 169.x.x.x. My Router is configured with 192.168.1.1. Strange!
7) I resetted the Router and I can then connect to the router and I get the User Interface of Gargoyle. But as soon as I restore from V1.12 I cannot access the router anymore from the notebook (direct connection with CAT 5 cable)
Any idea what is going wrong here?
Many thanks in advance.

This.
You cannot restore such an old config to a newer version.
Just set it up from scratch.
Particularly you MUST NOT restore an old config if it came from a different brand/model of device.

Many thanks Lantis. I did set it now from scratch and it seems good.
I have to bother you again with some questions:
1) In the old router, I used SSH to disable QoS. Do I need again to do it here or it is enough in the Web Interface? Doing that in the old router improved the speed significantly.
I tried "iptables -t mangle -vnL" in Putty to see if there are Qos entries there but the command did not work.
I remeber there was a link on the website that explains how to disble QoS via SSH but I did not find it.
2) BASIC tab / Drop Ping From WAN Side: this I assume so that no one pings the router from outside?
3) ADVANCED tab / Activate packet steering?: Can I disable without concerns?
Many thanks in advance.

1. Disable via the web interface is sufficient.
Your iptables command is correct, you would need to provide more information on “it doesn’t work”, though I don’t think it is that important.
2. Yes. Ping is relatively harmless, however it does signal that you exist. Dropping the packet gives no reply and no indication to the sender that anyone is there. If this is important to you then you can turn it on.
3. Yes if you wish. There is no harm. It may cause a slight drop in performance in some systems

I don't know why you'd want to disable packet steering if it is enabled by default: it's a performance optimisation only. I find it quite significant that the
ramips/mt7621 target (which includes your AX23) is one of only 3 targets out of all the targets supported by OpenWrt for which this feature is enabled by default (which Gargoyle inherits). IOW, test your network performance with & without it because disabling it on your device is more than likely to result in some performance loss.
