Trouble with external web access

Hello Gargoylers! I recently installed 1.4.0 on a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH and am loving it. I am using a number of features, such as reserved DHCP IPs, QoS, etc., but I receive a "Connection Refused" error when I attempt to access the router configuration page from an external network. This occurs when using Chrome, IE, and Android browsers and with the dyndns port tester.

Here are some things that I have tried without success:
* enabled both http and https access using default ports 80 and 443
* enabled both http and https access using ports 88 and 444
* enabled http only using port 88
* enabled https only using port 444
* enabled and disabled forwarding on ports 80, 88, 443, and 444 from WAN to local router IP (192.168.1.1)

Some key setup features:
* The router is bridged to a Qwest/CenturyLink/Actiontec Q1000 ADSL modem; I did a factory reset on the modem prior to setting bridged mode
* I am using dyndns, but I get the same behavior when using the numeric WAN IP
* UPnP is enabled (have not tried disabling)

I am suspicious that the modem might be blocking access, but I have no way to tell. Any help in troubleshooting this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you have the option - and just for a short test

Look in the Modem config - if you have one, and see if it allows
to place an IP into the DMZ - if so, put the Router's IP
into the DMZ zone of the modem.

If it works like that, its definitely some type of routing issue.

Thanks for replying! Nothing different with your suggestion. I also updated to 1.4.1. Any other troubleshooting ideas?

Many ISPs (including my own) block ports 80 & 443. One can only speculate why.

So try selecting port 81 for http when you enable remote access on your router.

Then your access your router with http://you.ip.add.ress:81

Do you have ANY access to the modem?
Can you get into any type of config page?

It sounds like it won't forward any access to the router.
If you can't get to the modem config page, you might be out of luck.

Maybe we can google 'hints' on enabling some features

OK - found the modem.

Try the following.

1) Turn the Modem back into normal (non-bridged mode)
2) While in this mode, turn off all firewall blocking on the modem
3) Reboot modem, and reset it back to bridged mode
4) See if you can connect to the router now

Since your router will be providing any firewall protection,
you want to make sure its disabled on the modem.

Still try non-standard ports though, as the modem will be
capturing port 80 for its own internal setup page.

I want to report opposite bug with remote web access.

bug: I disabled remote http access in system options , but I can connect and login to gargoyle via wan interface.

Gargoyle version: 1.3.14 (by obsy) with Polish translation
Router is configured as gateway.

I messed around a lot more with it this afternoon. I am able to access the modem using a LAN cable connected directly to my laptop. The modem LAN IP is 192.168.0.1.

On the modem, I first reset everything back to factory defaults again and rebooted. I put the modem in bridged mode and forwarded ports 10080 and 10443 to 80 and 443 of the router LAN IP. I turned off the modem firewall. Still no access.

I also placed the router in the modem's DMZ. No access.

I tried various configurations, using default ports 80 and 443, with no luck.

If anyone has other ideas, I appreciate them, but I'm thinking that I'm out of luck.

if you are still finding a solution for your issue, please do as follows...
navigate to this page, web access
enable the remote web access and choose your ports. for testing use the default ones.
from smartphone type
http:// or https://devicename.dyndns-home.com:80 for example port number, make sure you include the port number...
