Any idea on what would need to be done to allow for overclocking of the g300nh or other Atheros routers that don't use the traditional style of boot method (NVRAM on wrt54g)? I had a wrt54gs with broadcom stock 200mhz at 248 for years with no issues, not even a fan! I remember stress testing it with this module called stress.
On G300nh stock speed is 400mhz imho, and pretty powerful, quicker with USB hdd than even 500+mhz Asus RT-N16! But I heard on some router stations that some of these atheros chips can do 800 mhz! I'm willing to change the heatsink or add a nice fan onto the case!

Sorry for the bump, but anyone have an idea where to start?

You asked there quite a while ago but no updates.
From what it looks like, you may have to get into the U-Boot
environment and see if you can tweak any of the settings.
You need to get serial connected to the router to do some tests.
Serial connection is very easy - just get one of the many
USB to Serial cables available off of e-bay and connect it to the
serial port on the board of the WZR-HP-G300NH
DD-WRT wiki / forums has the serial info and serial cable info
Remember Gargoyle is a GUI + to OpenWRT base, so if it can't be
done in OpenWRT - it most likely can't be done in Gargoyle.

Check that thread - looks like there MAY be a cpuclk variable.
I have no idea if this is true for the WZR-HP-G300NH though.
Probably won't have time to check my own until the weekend.
