wrt1900acs v2 Gargoyle 1.13.x_test_builds

Post by oliver44 »

Hello all,
I'm running on wrt1900acs v2 the latest version of Gargoyle 1.13.x_test_builds from lantisproject, the 1Gbps connection works as it should if we disable Bandwidth Monitor!
connection Type PPPoE - IPv6 Type DHCPv6 with Prefix Delegation 1Gbps
IPv6 Type DHCPv6 with Prefix Delegation-On - Ok
Operating Mode Gateway/AP
Schedule Reboot-On,
Web Access Protocol - HTTPS,
SSH (public key)-ok
Port Forwarding - Ok,
USB -Ok
Schedule Reboot - At a Set Time - On

@lantis this version will receive some updates?
Can someone guide me on what I need to do to pass the following security tests on the firewall side, and how can I use DNSSEC on gargoyle?

Could you advise what parts of the test you're failing?

There will not be a 1.15 for your device, you'll need to wait until 1.17

please can you add more updates for this version, at the moment I find the best alternative to openwrt and ddwrt which have problems on the wifi side...

If you don’t post your results, how can I advise you? I can run the tests on my end but what if we get different results?

I can’t/won’t do updates for your device as it has been disabled in 22.03 (which 1.15 is based on).
I’m sure they will have fixed it in 23.xx, and then it will be fine. But you’ll hav to wait. That’s an openwrt problem, not me.

If the problem is in the wifi firmware, there won't be any fixes as there is no ongoing firmware development (and hasn't been for at least 3 years) for the chipsets in the Linksys WRT series. There have been some driver fixes but that's all (and those only in the last 2 weeks in the upstream repository - nothing prior to that since April 2020). That said, WRT wifi apparently works well enough for some.

Additionally OpenWrt 19.07 (used by Gargoyle 1.13.x) has been designated as end-of-life by OpenWrt and has had no useful updates since 19.07.10 was released in April 2022.

Therefore if you can't give Lantis any information that would show the problem is in Gargoyle code and enable identification of the issue, you have no prospect of any fix. Given the known issues with wifi in the WRT series, you might be better off disabling it and installing a separate wifi access point...

2 additional IPv6 test sites:
- https://ipv6-test.com (this site checks several optional capabilities so a reasonable score is apparently 18/20)
