Light theme for Gargoyle

Post by arteq »

I develop light, Tomato like theme. Screenshot - http://openwrt.pl/lib/exe/fetch.php/dow ... jpg?cache=

I share it at http://artekw.cerbero.pl/websvn

Navigate to projects -> gargoyle -> theme. Download and replace /www/theme/default/ content on router.

Another way is build new image from scratch.

Any comments and suggestions are welcome. Enjoy.

Cool, but why not tell us what advantages there are to using this theme. What is it about the Gargoyle theme that you do not like?

pbix: Nothing wrong with a new theme, everyone has different tastes!

arteq: Instead of replacing /www/themes/default, a better way to do this would be to create a new directory, e.g. /www/themes/light and then update the theme being used by running: "uci set gargoyle.global.theme='light' ; uci commit ;"

Support for multiple themes was built into the overall design right from the start! I just never bothered to create a different one before.

If you want to create a theme switcher page in the System menu, I'd be happy to add that and your new theme to the official version so anyone can choose which they prefer.

@pbix my theme is wider, lighter(only css) and like Eric write everyone has different tastes.

@Eric yes, this is another way to install this theme. I think about switcher. if i had the code, i push request via github.

I think this theme switcher would greatly enhance the marketability of Gargoyle for a number of reasons:
1. Gargoyle could operated from a variety of devices. e.g. smartphones (see my comment re: smartphones)
2. Different language groups could be accomodated (e.g. Polish in the example given).
3. The tastes of different "Culture Groups" could be catered for. I mean culture in the broadest possible sense (e.g. from nerds to Ferrari supporters etc).
4. Individual taste....as already mentioned by Eric.

I therefore hope that the switcher feature will become a reality.

Yeah, this is a very cool feature.

Imagine having Gargoyle auto-change for the Holidays!

Green-theme for St. Patties!

Pink/Red theme for Valentines.

Snow/Wintry theme for winter, etc

And of course - we can't forget a Hello Kitty/Gargoyle Theme!

2x Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH V1 A0D0 = Gargoyle 1.9.x / LEDE 17.01.x
2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

I'm not sure if this is the right place to mention this but I've installed the available themes with opkg as per the wiki instructions. If I select one from 'System', 'Themes' it results in a text only page with no theme.

Having found this thread I tried setting it according to Eric's instructions "uci set ; uci commit" which worked. Having done that once I can now set the theme successfully from the GUI.
