Gargoyle still in active development?

Post by ChillyHellion »

Hello,

I'm wondering if Gargoyle is still in active development.

* Eric's last post was a year ago
* There haven't been any routers available in the shop for a few months now
* The most recent version of Gargoyle (1.10.0) is a year old

I'm not chomping at the bit for new versions or features, but I am wondering about the present and future of Gargoyle development and whether there will be routers available in the store again.

If not, is there a recommended third-party router that I can flash Gargoyle on?

Thank you!

Per this thread it looks like Gargoyle 1.11.0 is in active development, so that pretty much answers my question: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11743

User Lantis is very active in the forums, so it might be that Eric is just away on other business; maybe the store itself is just not active or is between recommended models of router.

Gargoyle is still active

Lantis appears to be driving things these days.

LEDE / OpenWRT split in my opinion held things up for a couple of years.

At a basic level Gargoyle is just a GUI for OpenWRT.

There is no doubt that Eric is not as active as he once was?

I’m keeping it going on my end at the moment.
I don’t have any current intentions of stopping.

Eric has popped up every few weeks and pushed my code through so he is still around. I expect just busy.

Realistically speaking though, this project is much closer to dead than alive. I liked it very much, but seems it's time to look for more active alternatives, unless you have an very old router.

I can’t control the website, so I can’t do “official” releases.
But I’ve pushed more changes, features and bug fixes in the last 12 months than ever before. And I’ve done unofficial releases for people.

As long as people can get past the words “unofficial” and “experimental” and “beta”, then this project will go on.

If you feel strongly about it, send an email to the project founder.

If you take 2 mins per day to read this forum you`ll realise how incorrect that statement is.
