ispy builds

Post by ispyisail »

Hi all

I've had a few problems with my latest builds. Most of then are to do with running out of space on my VMs

The latest builds (OS + OpenWRT) are now over 100 Gig. I used to build on VMs around 50 Gig. I suspect the OS and build platform have both increased.

On top of that the Torrent has gone from around 200 - 300 MB to 700+ MB

I've made a new one ready to go but im not sure how interested people will be at that size and now that Lantis is hosting?

I'd be interested to know how much it costs lantis to host.

At the peak the torrents were consuming many 100's of my GigBytes (I had no problem with that though) Most plans in NZ are now unlimited.

If the demand is still there I will continue?

The builds have definitely grown. I myself have had to customise the build script so that it purges the build files between each target to save space. My VM only has 60gb I think.
I’m happy to continue hosting for now.
It might be worth me giving you access so you upload your own builds if you like.

My hosting costs $15/month I think

Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.

For smaller sizes, you can omit the broadcom (malfunctions) and you can omit the plugins because, probably the public version works.
And, then separate into a couple of categories, like atheros, etc...

Or,
There was that other option of a Diet Gargoyle that fits more routers and runs faster... Those file sizes would be much smaller.

And what about OpenWrt package name: gargoyle.ipkg (+ gargoyle plugins)?

So if it's just a GUI (+ something extra) - it's like LuCI in OpenWrt. Then it would not have to be complicated to compile, save space and be for other OpenWrt routers.

Gargoyle is just a GUI for OpenWRT
This is over simplified

In the beginning we could install the Gargoyle GUI over top of OpenWRT. Those days are long gone as gargoyle has become more complex.

Gargoyle is more than just a GUI....................But for basic understanding its the best way to explain it.

O.K. just to keep the speech ;) - but the idea was not bad - I know it will not work anymore. There are custom compilations and let me say that Gargoyle fixes bugs in OpenWrt and I am grateful for that ;),+1 .
