problem setting up an OpenVPN client router

Post by throughwalls »

The client is unable to load the server generated configuration file.

I select the .ovpn file using the GUI. When I press "Save Changes" I get a popup which gives the router IP address and says ERROR: Could not find config file

The logs say:

Code: Select all

Both vpn server and client routers are running a fresh install of Garoyle 1.10.0. Both routers are TP-Link 3600s and have lots of space. I have tried rebooting the client router, but it makes no difference.

Symptoms are similar to what is reported in the older thread viewtopic.php?t=10024

I have also tried configuring with individual config files. Same error message.

The client
What is the client?

Another Gargoyle router or client loaded on a PC?

The client router is a TP-Link 3600 running a fresh install of Garoyle 1.10.0. This matches the hardware/software running the server.

The logs above are from the client router when I try to install the configuration file from the server.

You must upload the zip file with the individual configs. Not the ovpn single config for setting up a client.

This is exactly the problem. Fixed now.

The labelling of both the server download and the client configuration web gui could likely be tweeked to guide people away from this confusion.

Where do I find 1.10.x versions? I usually download from the main download page.

I tend to agree. I think the upload page does state it is looking for a .zip.
I was going to write it to accept the .ovpn but I ran out of time.
