I have a 25/5 connection and while its decent, downloads still can make things feel slow. Basically all i want are downloads to be given the lowest priority. I don't wanna have to go to every pc in the house and manually limit downloads on their programs id prefer to just do it all from the router instead.
The documentation talks about finding out about ports for the specific programs but if im not mistaken downloads and videos use the same ports 80 and 443 so if i tell the router to give these lowest priority that would mean video streaming also gets the lower priority.
Whats the best way around this? If it helps downloads are usually from steam games, bnet games and general downloads including torrents.
how to give downloads lowest priority?

Re: how to give downloads lowest priority?
You need to find some way for QOS to know which traffic you consider "Downloads" and which traffic you consider "Streaming".
But by default QoS will make sure each computer gets the same bandwidth. So for example if one computer is running torrents and another is streaming then each should get 12.5Mbps or your speed.

Re: how to give downloads lowest priority?
So if 443 and 80 are commonly used ports how can i do it?
Re: how to give downloads lowest priority?
Those two ports are https and http; deprioritizing them will cause your web browsing to be slow.Lordkek wrote:So if 443 and 80 are commonly used ports how can i do it?
QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

Yeah and downloading too. Makes the situation difficult.Volaris wrote:Those two ports are https and http; deprioritizing them will cause your web browsing to be slow.Lordkek wrote:So if 443 and 80 are commonly used ports how can i do it?

That’s for you to figure out lol. We can’t give you an answer to a scenario that only you know the full details of.
On the QOS page you can see the dozen or so possible criteria you can filter on. Get creative.
Maximum connection bytes might be a good start.
