Gargoyle will eventually move to the next version of Openwrt/LEDE or whatever.
I'm currently not advocating for doing so because there is still a merger of the two being discussed.

It would be painful to make all of these changes, then need to do them AGAIN.

If the c2600 gets LEDE support, it is probably that it will eventually be supported on Gargoyle.

LEDE 17.1 is a proper release. The 17.1 branch will stay up even if OPENWRT and lede merge. I think Gargoyle could just fork the 17.1 branch and have a go. I herd that a user on the openwrt built a build of swrt with Gargoyle and flashed it to a wrt3200acm. They didn't say how it ran but did say that it booted.

If servers and domain names move/change there is a bit of work involved in fixing the build system.

I have my eye on it daily I assure you.

Let's hope both of them merge soon, there are too many forks in linux ecosystem.

I installed LEDE 17.01.4 on my c2600 and it is not fun.
I had to install other packages like bandwidthd, samba etc.
And still trying to make samba to work.

It would be great if we get a gargoyle version with those feature/packages included.

Does this mean Gargoyle can now move to the new (lede) Openwrt base?

When it gets moved back to the openwrt.org infrastructure that's when i'll personally start looking at it.

There is already a LEDE development branch for Gargoyle, but it is not currently being actively worked on
