tp-link block 3rd party firmwares

it's that true that tp-link started to block third party firmwares? so what we can do about it?

Exactly how are (can) they do this ?

In response to a rumoured FCC ruling (that was made far less strict later on), TP-Link began locking down their firmwares.

The lock is currently reasonably easy to circumvent, however Gargoyle does not implement this (and won't until we upgrade to latest Openwrt/LEDE).

Currently you can use a LEDE image to get around the block, then sysupgrade to Gargoyle.

Looking forward to the 1st Gargoyle openwrt/lede build but don't think it will be anytime soon. Keep up the good work. Gargoyle is one of the best third party firmware out there IMO.
