Thank you Tapper and Lantis.

I wondered that.

Even with a big warning sign not to preserve settings?
I was under the impression that the "DO NOT PRESERVE SETTINGS" is for when upgrading from 1.8 to 1.9 but not within the same version, I guess I was wrong.

Is there another way of re-applying settings after an upgrade? Is there a way of applying a patch on a backup so it can be restored on the new version? That would be useful.

There's a way, not as practical as restoring a single backup file, but definitely faster than setting up everything from scratch again.

Extract the backup file to a folder on your pc, and then manually move the files to your router through WinSCP.

I know these files below are safe to move/restore, there might be more though. If anyone else know about any more files that are safe to move/restore, please leave a comment.

/etc/config/firewall
/etc/config/qos_gargoyle
/etc/ethers
/etc/firewall.user
/etc/hosts

That's what i do everytime i upgrade the firmware, even if it's from 1.9.X to another 1.9.X.

Better be safe than sorry, right ?

Ispy compiles always the "master"-branch of Eric's git repository.
I additionally compiled some test-branches of Eric and Lantis called "Gui_Overhaul", because this could be the future of Gargoyle and I wanted to have a first impression.
The date of compilation is part of the filename, but "master" and "Gui-Overhaul" have not exactly the same content. If you are interested in a specific pull request, take a look at GitHub

Might be a little misleading to place your builds in this thread?

I assumed that you had downloaded the torrents then uploaded them to mega.

Having said that I have no problem with other custom builds

The other problem is we don't know if the reported problems above are petbrau 1.9.x or ispy 1.9.x builds?

I just wanted to give you a hint, how to provide your firmware builds.
To see a professional way of distribution, go to
http://dl.eko.one.pl/gargoyle-pl/
were also the add-ons are published.

I for myself decided, not to wait any longer on gargoyle. This weekend I bought a fritzbox router from AVM (very popular in Germany) which covers all my needs incl. QoS, children protection and a modern GUI.

I which gargoyle all the best for the future.

P.S.:
I will close the public access to the MEGA-server in about 2 weeks.

Thanks for your assistance and opinion.
You're 100% correct. But this is the system we have for now.

Good luck with Fritz!
I think you'll be back one day. We have plenty of users running both ;)

Just for interest I have tried Dropbox and Mega but the free accounts don't scale that well.

e.g. After x amount of data the account gets blocked.
