Wi-Fi roaming assistant (between 2.4ghz and 5ghz)
Hello!
So i recently setup the asus ac55u and discover that it has some kind of helper for 5ghz.
If the signal is less then preset value (e.g. less than -80dbm), it disconnect the device from 5ghz and connect to 2.4ghz instead.
Could this be implemented in gargoyle firmware as a plugin or even as default feature of gargoyle ? I think it should be awesome.

I can think of some pretty crude ways of achieving this, but I can't resolve any of the issues in my head.
Essentially:
- it's possible to force a client to disconnect
- I don't think it's possible to tell them to go somewhere else instead (unless in the same freq band)
- so to achieve that, you need to ban the client for a period of time, forcing them to find another network at random (hopefully 2.4)
- this causes a noticeable and lengthy disruption to service for client.
- if no alternative network exists or is connectable, we've just starved a client of connectivity for the ban period.
- the last issue could result in an endless loop of disconnects for the client.

Well i would try it myself but i dont know which programing language for plugin or how to get things working.
Description of asus roamimg assistant:
Enable for better 5GHz and 2.4GHz switch
When on the same SSID for both 5GHz and 2.4GHz, not every device is smart enough to automatically switch to 2.4GHz network when 5GHz network still in range but signal is bad

I just looked up the implementation by ASUS. There is no *smarts* to it at all. It works exactly as I described in my original reply with the same limitations remaining unsolved.
It is still potentially a plugin I could make but I certainly wouldn't make it default.
I'll look at it, I've been stuck for plugin ideas anyway.

Have been working on a GUI update for Gargoyle. Will do this when it is finished.

The request is similar to the Smart Connect feature I have in my DLink router.
