Re: Version 1.7.0 - Barrier Breaker

Post by dlogictech »

Hi Guys,
I seem to be locked out of my router after upgrading to the latest version:
Gargoyle-ispy 2015-February-08
for a D-Link DIR-835. Specifically the gargoyle_1.7.x-ar71xx-generic-dir-835-a1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin.

So what I did was upgrade from the experimental release of:
gargoyle_1.7.0-ar71xx-generic-dir-835-a1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

This was successfully upgraded.
I then proceeded to configure the router by restoring with a backed up configuration file from the 17.0 to the 17.x
This was successful but now I cannot log in the router.
I definitely know what password I used and I also tried the Admin password "password"
I have even tried to perform a reset with the 30 30 30 second procedure.
with no success...
I am hoping that someone can suggest other ways to recover or reset my router.

Update:
Never mind, I read that the 30 x 30 x 30 reset method is wrong and that for my router which is Atheros based, I must use the 10 second method. which is to say, press the reset button for 10 seconds while the router is powered on then release and wait for the device to boot up.

Successfully installed 1.7 to an ASUS RT-N16 using Broadcom firmware. Everything works EXCEPT wireless is in a "disabled" state. No matter what I try with settings, wireless is always disabled. please help!

Which version are you running? I've been able to use wireless with the 1.7.0 release, but had to give up on Gargoyle for now as I couldn't install any plugins and there was no support for a USB drive. From what I can tell, the RT-N16 isn't supported by the 1.7.0 release. It shows up as unknown on the status page.

I haven't tried a more recent build yet -

Archer C7 | LEDE some trunk version
WDR3600 | Gargoyle 1.9.x

Warning: Sometimes people actually believe I know what I'm talking about. Don't be fooled. I don't.

It was downloaded from the downloads page 2 days ago (saturday). Everything is working great on the rt-n16 except for the wifi. For now I am using a separate access point for wireless but would really like to get it working on the asus

Flashed my DIR-505 with 1.7.0. The experience so far has been very smooth.

- Gargoyle A1 firmware works just fine with my DIR-505E A2.
- Throughput is on par with stock firmware.
- Wireless range is on par with stock firmware.
- USB port works as expected.
- Flashing straight from stock firmware works as expected.
- The emergency firmware recovery mode works as expected.
- Reset button brings Gargoyle to its default settings as expected.
- Disk shares and permissions work as expected.

Minor nagging problem:

- I'm getting the "too many redirections" issue with Safari. Using "Private Window" mode on Safari fixes it. More details here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5814&p=27453#p27453

Just picked up an Archer C7 V2, 1.7.0 only shows the 2.4 wifi.
According to the Wiki, BB supports both frequencies on the V2.
Sysupgraded to BB and both radios show up and are usable.

Can you explain this better please?

Are you seeing 2.4 and 5 Ghz ? How did you manage that?
