I installed 1.7.0 on my TP-Link WR841N v9. Everything went ok, but it seems that 4 MB flash models are a bit tight on available space. I could not install the iperf package. After the usual commands "opkg update; opkg install iperf" I got this:

ERROR: Not enough space in destination root to install specified packages:
iperf, uclibcxx

I do use iperf a lot to test network performance, it is a great tool. Is there any way to install iperf on 4 MB flash models?

Thanks in advance.

I hope there will be support for 5Ghz soon, or better, as soon as possible.
Unfortunately i am not that expert and i don't know how to build .
what?

I know 5ghz is supported in AA maybe before, I don't know about for all routers?
I can´t see any settings for 5Ghz in ui.

Do you have "Dual Band" in the drop down "Operation Mode"? This is what I have selected.

Eric,

I just thought I would pen a quick thank you note for all the effort you put into 1.7.0. I have yet to upgrade but once a few of the bugs are ironed out I will so.

I also decided today to make a donation to the project. I was thinking how much I use Gargoyle and shudder at going back to stock so I decided I should support what I like.

I encourage everyone to follow my lead, even if it's only a few bucks. If we loose Gargoyle think how much pain we would all be in. As a New Year's present to Eric chuck him a few bucks (or more!) today so he can keep going on such a great project.

Many thanks again and looking forward to more releases in 2015.

Thanks for the update to BB. I use a wndr3800, which is ath9k (and run it overclocked 760 or 800 mhz thanks to kernel_entry_init patch).

I have one question though, is it still a good idea to have ANI disabled for ath9k wifi?
I see this changeset for BB @ openwrt timeline:
https://dev.openwrt.org/changeset/42444

Also, by default on openwrt, the command "tc qdisc" shows fq_codel being used for wlan0 and wlan1. In gargoyle that is not the case. So I added these lines to rc.local to change to codel:

Code: Select all

tc qdisc add dev wlan0 root fq_codel limit 500 quantum 300 target 5ms interval 100ms
tc qdisc add dev wlan1 root fq_codel limit 500 quantum 300 target 5ms interval 100ms

Anyway glad to have gargoyle back. The ethernet driver bug for these devices was killing simultaneous upload/download speeds, so I couldn't use Gargoyle.

But Openwrt qos is really not too good. I haven't really liked SQM either (from cerowrt) as it is very static- no classes to set up.
Also upload seems to be mandatory, download cannot be done alone- it still sucks up too much cpu for my fiber line to do both.

With gargoyle I can set qos on download only, and let my main ISP router handle qos upload. Works perfect and both router cpu can handle the approx 58 down/ 63 upload no problem!

Hey,

first - thanks for your great work and v1.7.0! :)

Are there any plans to support mpc85xx architecture resp. TP-Link TL-WDR4900 router? It is supported in BB, but I can't find an image for it in BB based v1.7.0...
