"WiFi Survey" on TL-WR740N v4 and TL-WR-841ND v8 ???

Post by jiade8 »

I flashed Gargoyle 1.5.11 on TP-Link TL-WR40N v4.23 and TL-WR-841ND v8.
Now, I would like to create "WiFi Survey" but I do not know how to do.
Would anyone mind if I can have package file, in which I can use the Gargoyle GUI.
Thank you!

I've just found the following link,
"http://openwrt.jaru.eu.org/gargoyle-pl/ ... -1_all.ipk"

My router was flashed Gargoyle 1.5.11,
I am wondering if I can use above package (.ipk) and install "WiFi Survey" with Plugin Interface on TL-WR740N v4 and TL-WR-841ND v8 ???

Thank you!

You want WiFi survey in Web Interface or are you okay with commands?

If you are okay with command you can execute;

Code: Select all

iw wlan0 scan
Change wlan0 based on your wireless interface. There is also a WiFi suvery plugin for Gargoyle.

You can install it but -

1) you need to know how to log in to your router by SSH and how to issue a wget command and then an opkg install command
2) The link to the package you have posted is in Polish - is this really what you want?
3) I installed it on my router and the web page was there but it reported "no other stations" - in Polish

Hi Rog66,
Thank your for your reply!
I didn't really know the link to the package you had posted in Polish. I need WiFi survey in English version.
Would you mind if you show me in detail:
+ How to log in to your router by SSH and
+ How to issue a wget command and then an opkg install command?
Thank you!

This is a Linux based system. Unless you are familiar with working with Linux I would not advise playing around in here as you can make your router unusable.

That having been said, for help on wget try https://www.gnu.org/software/wget/manua ... mple-Usage .

The easiest way to access your router by SSH is to download and use a small package called Putty. You can google for it. You will need to set up a new connection by ssh in putty and input your routers ip address. When the software connects the username is "root" and the password is your admin password from the gargoyle login screen.

Unless you can risk bricking your router (i.e. you have another one) I would not recommend playing with the operating system files unless you know your way around.
