760mhz oc build r42171, 1.6.2 wndr3700/3800, buffalo ag300h

Post by robnitro »

Hi,
Here's my recent build of gargoyle with 760mhz overclock for:
Buffalo ag300h
Netgear WNDR3700v2/3800

Using the optimization added after AA, which is -mtune=34kc (which works well for 24kc, 34kc, and 74kc processors).

I went to 760 mhz because the buffalo ag300h I got was not stable under memtester for 800 during my test of letting the router get hot. I always test my PC, etc overclocks under hotter conditions to make sure they are stable because if it needs super cooling, it is not really stable for real life conditions!
So I wrapped a t shirt around the router to test.

You can opkg update, opkg install memtester.

Then run memtester 64 or whatever MB of ram you want to test to see stability.

Files inside are named with prefix OpenWRT, are you sure they are Gargoyle build?

Yes, because the way the build.sh works, it downloads openwrt AA and gargoyle customizes it and adds extra packages to it.

Also, see how the image is 8mb or so, normal openwrt builds are much smaller.

I'm using it on my ag300h, and I just looked at the previous build I made, and same thing, "openwrt". I wonder if theres some option in make that I have to change to make it "gargoyle"??

I can rename it if needed...

Anyway to overclock is simple, you just place a patch that modifies kernel_entry_init.h which tells the board to use different settings for the cpu/ram/ahb.

Can you recheck your build. It seems not to save new settings :o
P/S: Sorry, it's not because of your build, I found out that this one is the cause of issue:

Alright, glad you got fixed. I haven't been using gargoyle anymore because Openwrt BB is where they fixed the ethernet issue for the WAN port speed issue. The only fix I could do on AA gargoyle is with my buffalo ag300h router- use ethtool to force 100 full duplex. The weirdness is that when I tried 100 full duplex on the wndr3800 I have, the speeds were terrible on wan. So once they fixed the driver, I tried to port it over to AA but no luck with that!
