1043ND router time problem

Post by chielmi »

Since I've been using Gargoyle (1.5.10 and 1.5.11) the time setting of my TL-WR1043ND has been wrong. After 24 hours uptime the router's time is running about 6 hours behind the real time.
After a couple of days it is already running one full day behind.

The NTP severs work fine when I reboot the router, but the time will immediately start running behind. With the stock firmware I never had this problem.
I want to solve it to be able to see the right time in the logfiles.
What can I do to prevent this problem?

If a reboot fix your problem, why don't you schedule a reboot every day or every x hours?

PM me if you need to buy Gargoyle router in Australia/NZ, willing to pay me to help you on your Gargoyle configurations or build custom configured ROM with pre-installed app or try to fix your bricked router. Yes, I am looking for job/work.

I have the same problem with the 1043nd (V1.8, running Gargoyle 1.4.7 - really must get round to an update). Rebooting was not reliably resetting the time. It appeared to be due to the startup script trying to contact the NTP server before the router had a connection to the ISP. If it failed at the start it didn't try again.

I added:

Code: Select all

0,10,20,30,40,50 * * * * /etc/init.d/ntpclient start
to the /etc/crontabs/root file on my 1043ND. This cured the timekeeping issue. This looked like the most reliable method of making sure it kept the correct time.
