TL-WR1043ND - What to install?

Post by Sir_Undead »

Hi, I have 2 WR1043NDs to flash, one of them is a V1.8 and the other V1.10.

I currently have DD-WRT installed on both of them, and they both have an issue with connecting to external FTP servers, they hang on LIST and MLSD commands. I've posted it on the forums over there and nobody seems to even care, so it's time to move away.

If I put Gargoyle on them, is it safe to just flash the latest version (1.6.1) to both of them, or are there other recommended versions?

I think you can change DD-WRT to Gargoyle only through reverting to stock version from DD-WRT with Webrevert firmware.

Thank you for the reply. I have done a webrevert as you suggested :D

My question was more about the version of gargoyle to flash to each router, what are the recommended versions for a V1.8 and V1.10?

I read about the different revisions of my router requiring different builds of OpenWRT and that Gargoyle utilises Attitude Adjustment in the latest build. I've also read about some WiFi issues with the V1.8.

I beleive, that all revisions from v1 to v1.N is one hardware platform and it's fully equal at software level with one Gargoyle image. There is new v2 hardware platform for 1043, but it's fully different platform with another software release with another software image. Also I'm using last 1.6.1 with my v1 router and there is no any visual bugs like wrong links in web management, slow WiFi or etc. (Tor also can be used by plugin with external plugin root at USB stick). But, I'm using my WiFi network with scheduling and it's turned off at night.

Oh, thanks agian.

I wasn't aware that the different revisions had identical hardware, I thought the point of different router versions was to change the hardware and not the software.

In that case, ill give Gargoyle 1.6 a go later when I get home!
