Paul,

Is it easy to run this update? Not sure where to start? is it through the gui or via putty?

Best to read the Documentation about how to do a firmware upgrade, from gui. Ensure you use the right image! You should also use the latest Show and Tell firmware which probably has the latest build of the 4300.

Most of the problem that I can see at the moment is with OpenWRT, so we are all sort of waiting for the OpenWRT guys to sort out their defects so that they then flow into Gargoyle.

Yes, just flash from the GUI but make sure you use the one I posted. You CANNOT use the TP-LINK stock firmware as is, it must be cut down as I have done.

what is special about the modified stock firmware posted?

I was able to downgrade from the GUI using TP-LINK stock firmware from their website without trouble.

Read the section on the OpenWRT site about downgrading the 4300. Supposedly, the file needs to be cut down to a certain size by way of dd (I run Linux Mint). I'm surprised that it worked for you but if it did, then maybe the cut down is not longer required?

Eric, or any of the Gargoyle developers, ideas as to why the stock worked without the cut down size?

Can somebody tell me if the revert files for Wdr4300 work to get back from OpenWrt to stock FW?

Just flash from web interface or must i use another method?

Describe the method please.

Thanks in advance.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl- ... l.firmware

Follow the method listed there

Looks like you have to do it via Putty - command line into the router

I don't see a method to revert back to factory via web interface
