Hi all,
I've just see an post on another forum which says:
"Looks as though my router is the limiting factor
Direct to Modem (both modem and PC rebooted)
Download Speed: ~ 17000 kbps
Via router (Netgear wndr3700v2 running gargoyle 1.5.8)
Download Speed: ~ 3100 kbps
Via router (Netgear wndr3700v2 running gargoyle 1.4.7)
Download Speed: ~ 6400 kbps"
Now that's a huge difference not only between Gargoyle versions but just having a router in the path.
Does anyone know what the stock firmware through put is? And are there any issues going back to the 1.4 revisions?
Thanks.

Re: Speed of Gargoyle versions
On my TL-WR1043ND I just disabled bwmon with the following code (using WinSCP)
I went from about 6mb/s to 10mb/s. Worked out great here, might not yield the same results on your router.
Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/bwmon_gargoyle stop
/etc/init.d/bwmon_gargoyle disable
Re: Speed of Gargoyle versions
I had a 1043ND, a good little router but under powered. You really need a faster CPU, either get the WDR4300 from TP-Link or a NetGear WDNR3700V2 or a WDNR 3800. They have a much faster CPU and you really notice the difference over the 1043ND.

Sounds like it defeat the purpose of using Gargoyle if you are going to disable the bandwidth monitoring...cat0 wrote:On my TL-WR1043ND I just disabled bwmon with the following code (using WinSCP)

Re: Speed of Gargoyle versions
My first question would be whether this is an apples to apples comparison - in other words, are all the measurements on a wired connection?
I notice no such slow down on OpenWrt trunk.
