Setting Access Restrictions

Post by woodynz »

How does one do this? I'm using one of the later builds. But in the past, it seemed to be much more logical and simpler.

Before, you could easily just block certain aspects you wanted to block, such as a list of websites, with no problem.

But now, it seems you actually have to block everything and then create an exception (white list) and Permit All apart from the things you actually want to block!

This doesn't make any sense. I can't block anything properly using a Restriction Rule because under Transport Protocol, I must select either Block All, Block TCP or Block UDP, thereby essentially blocking everything to some extent. There should be an option here to Block Nothing.

So I have to create an exception. I have found this doesn't really work that well, but does work some of the time, for some settings (seems to depend on what you're blocking or not blocking).

Am I going about this the wrong way?

Which was the older version that was less complicated than this?

I'm confused as well with "access restrictions" ! using tp-link wr740n on 1.5.4...

I wanted to block some websites/keywords, I first setup rule to "block all" to all network access and then in Exception (white list) i created "website" rule with permit all except "website URL" to permit all except demonoid...etc and all works fine but its also bocking yahoo mail and facebook apps on my iphone and other devices. am i doing something wrong???
