Best router for Gargoyle

While I have the TP-Link 1043nd running Gargoyle. It's performance is not the greatest. The CPU is somewhat underpowered to make Gargoyle "fly". If I had to purchase a replacement router that was better, what's the best performing Gargoyle router available?

I was thinking the WNDR3700 v2 might be the best bet but what does the forum think? :?:

What speed of connection do you have and what's your cpu load showing?

My speed of connection is 100 MBits down and 1 MBit up. The CPU is pretty much flat chat at this speed.

ok you need a better person than I to advise, the 3700 is an excellent router but i'm not sure it can handle qos at this speed.

If you look at the page

The 3700v2 seems to be the highest powered router that supports Gargoyle. Can someone else check to make sure I have not made a mistake?

It has 4 times the throughput of the TP-Link.

I have WNDR3700v2 and im telling you to purchase it NOW. Dont think. Just do it.

WNDR3700v2 + Gargoyle > rofl everything else. (Yes the CPU is blazing fast).

Did that on Friday, so far so good. With no QoS the 3700v2 runs at 100 Mbits down, flat chat in other words! With QoS enabled for the VoIP I have, there is a substantial hit with max at 55 MBits sec. Perhaps the QoS in OpenWRT will be improved at some point.

There are also no dropouts while running Wireless N. So I suspect the 1043nd had either hardware problems or just wasn't up to the task.

Out of interest on the qos side is it the acc or just straight qos that causes the hit.

It is and I also have one, however if you want to use qos at the speeds pm has it can push it - there was another thread further down that discussed if a small pc could be built using gargoyle to handle it.

What I don't know is whether qos is really required at these types of speeds - until Internet requirements start pushing the faster lines.
