TP-Link 3rd Party Workaround?

Hi All,
New to Gargoyle and 3rd party firmware in general, but really think that Gargoyle provides a solution that'd be very helpful so I'm determined to make it work. Recently bought a TL-WR941ND v6 and keep receiving the 18005 error that has been reported ad nauseam.
I've tried a number of different solutions including a DD-WRT installation before flashing to Gargoyle and can't seem to make it work. I'm a noob to this realm of tech and could use some help here... I'd really like to use Gargoyle.
Can someone who has beat this block share their experience and what they did, specifically?
