OpenWrt Backfire 10.03.1-RC3 to Gargoyle

Post by vplessky »

Hello,

I have TP-Link WR-841ND v5 router (4MB flash, Atheros chipset) which I recently flashed with OpenWrt Backfire 10.03.1-RC3.

Question is what is needed (and if it is safe) to reflash it with Gargoyle firmware?
As flash on this router is just 4MB, I don't have space to add Gargoyle UI manually (via opkg)

My guess is that I need to reflash it using Gargoyle *-sysupgrade firmware. But before going further, need advise/info on subject.

Another question- would it be possible to flash original stock firmware to thsi router, or it is doomed to use "free open-source firmware" for the rest of its life? :-)

For people who would google for an answer later:

I successfully upgraded my TP-Link WR841ND v5 from OpenWrt 10.03.1-RC3 to Gargoyle 1.3.7 using squashfs-sysupgrade image
