Flash not completed, I Guess !

Post by assem »

Hi,

I have uploaded Gargoyle firmware to my WRT54GL v1.1 from an already-installed OpenWRT Web Interface . It doesn't have progress indicator !
after about 13 minute, and didn't report success or failure, So I stopped the web browser, then pressed reload. after that, It show me the Gargoyle web interface login, but it failed to log with the password "password" !

How can i fix this or at least restore the stock firmware ?

Thanks.

TFTP Flash recover

You can re-flash Gargoyle that method

Broadcom devices usually take no more than 5 minutes for a flash

Atheros devices can take up to 30 minutes (older ones)

If you have Windows 7 - its sometimes hard to catch the TFTP window

2x Asus RT-N16 = Asus 3.0.0.4.374.43 Merlin
2x Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH V1 A0D0 = Gargoyle 1.9.x / LEDE 17.01.x
2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

TFTP Flash recover
I have tried TFTP Flash method (Win7's TFTP, TFTP2, DrayTek's Firmware Upgrade Utility) multiple times with both Gargoyle and Linksys stock firmwares, but always fails with connection timeout, although the router's IP 192.168.1.1 still pingable , also the Garygoyle's web interface.

I have solved the issue. :)

I had to telnet into the device, and change the gargoyle config not to require web password, rebooted, then on log on asked me to enter and confirm a new password, after that, i uploaded Linksys stock firmware successfully.

from there firmware upgrade option, I re-uploaded the gargoyle's firmware smoothly, and it toke me only 4 minutes to complete the upload and rebooting the router.

logged in for the first time with the default password "password" into this perfect firmware and Web UI ;)

I had the same issue and tried several resolutions and none worked until I found this: http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/ar ... _3618616_2

Download the stock firmware and follow from the bottom of page 2 (The Ping, Dear God, I Beg Of You Technique). I fully recovered the router in minutes! :D

I have now successfully flashed with Gargoyle (but still cannot get the AP to work - see here http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... ?f=6&t=907 :( )

I cannot get it to work with DD-WRT either! I will try it with another broadband router at the weekend.
