What is the file name of the file that you are attempting to flash your router with?
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running? TL-WDR3600 : Gargoyle 1.9.0 : NBN FixedWireless
TL-WR1043ND-V2 : Gargoyle 1.8.0 : 3G Huawei E160E
In my opinion the freeze issue is softawre related not hardware.
The device is running at the moment the original fw in AP mode for months now and I can confirm that it is as stable as a rock.
The moment I set it in Repeater mode it wil not last a day and it wil freezes for shure.
If I got some more time I install Gargoyle and report my findings here.

Gargoyle 1.7.0 (experimental) is now published as 1.8.1 (stable).
If you do want to test the latest experimental version 1.9.0 would be a good choice. This is where most of the development effort is going in

The hunt continues. I suppose that v2 isn't supported, because of what I've read about it.
Brgs,
Actually, it is supported. Try the stable 1.8.1 firmware for the wa830re v2 found in this page. http://www.gargoyle-router.com/download.php
It made my wa830re v2 to come back to life as a working wireless bridge.
