U500X + Gargoyle 1.6.2

Post by SpaceAceX »

Hi all,

I currently have a AP121U (also known as a Hornet-UB) router and I wish to turn it into 3G router for WAN. I currently have a AWS ISP provider which provided me a Alcatel X500U USB stick. I checked out the stick on my laptop and works perfectly.

However, I connected to my router and I see it blinking (roughly every second) a green led light. When I checked out the dmesg (near the end), I get was this:
[ 50.530000] device eth0 entered promiscuous mode
[ 51.170000] eth0: link up (1000Mbps/Full duplex)
[ 51.170000] br-lan: port 1(eth0) entered forwarding state
[ 51.170000] br-lan: port 1(eth0) entered forwarding state
[ 53.170000] br-lan: port 1(eth0) entered forwarding state
[ 53.520000] eth1: link up (100Mbps/Full duplex)
[ 55.010000] device wlan0 entered promiscuous mode
[ 55.320000] br-lan: port 2(wlan0) entered forwarding state
[ 55.320000] br-lan: port 2(wlan0) entered forwarding state
[ 57.320000] br-lan: port 2(wlan0) entered forwarding state
[ 60.410000] usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 2
[ 61.030000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-platform
[ 61.290000] scsi1 : usb-storage 1-1:1.4
[ 62.290000] scsi 1:0:0:0: Direct-Access ALCATEL Mass Storage 2.31 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2
[ 62.300000] sd 1:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI removable disk
[ 137.740000] ipt_bandwidth: timezone shift of 240 minutes detected, adjusting
[ 137.740000] old minutes west=0, new minutes west=240

I do not see the ttyUSB# at all in the /dev folder. Could someone help me out? I am also using gargoyle 1.6.2 but if it requires me to upgrade to 1.7.1 please let me know.

Looks like that U500X stick is too new.

I don't find any mention of it searching OpenWRT.

Has to have OpenWRT support before Gargoyle will support it.

May have to wait a while before it gets supported or if you are skilled
enough, you might be able to hack your own driver into OpenWRT.
