I recently stumbled upon Gargoyle and wanted to flash my router. It didn't look like it would work on my ASUS RT-N66U, so I purchased the TP-LINK Archer C7 AC1750.

I was hoping I could just flash the router and be on my way. But, I was having problems flashing the firmware, due to this error:

Code: Select all

"Error Code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name."
I saw this error mentioned in several searches I did. But, the solutions either didn't work or got far more technical that I wanted. After more searching I stumbled across an article where the author was experiencing the exact same problem I had. Better yet, there was a simple solution that worked.

I can't seem to post URLs, but you could try googling the title. The article I found was titled: OpenWRT / LEDE on late serial number TP-LINK Archer C7 V2

I'm happy to be running Gargoyle 1.10.0.

I successfully flashed Xiaomi Router 3G. Not tested very well, because is my backup router. Wifi is working. Here is link to firmware https://mega.nz/#F!0yxjkCqY!xsp_OGIOuuq0wo1NU_ZY9w
It would be nice if this router be supported officially.

That's awesome news!

@ispyisail
What's the proper way to make this device an "official" supported device?

@ Lantis

you should have a look at this router

Xiaomi Router 3G

Good specs and cheap (not a performance router)

I had a look at it.
It is Ramips which we already support (good), but it is a new profile (MT7621) which we don't have (bad).

It would be better if someone who has already compiled and tested one could send me the .config to check and use.
Until then i'd prefer to leave it.
