Successful flashing of a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND-V2 router. I had to admit that I was doing all sorts of reading on these forums plying for anything that would tell me if I was going to run into any problems. Read ALL of the instructions, followed said instructions, successful flash without issue!

Thanx team Gargoyle! :D

Flashing was successful. But the password is not "password"!
Connect to the router, but I can not make settings .
What is the solution, the router is TP-LINK TL-WR841ND Ver:3.5

Which dual band router is good for the future, for some normal price, max 50-60eur ?

And also support barrier breaker with no problem and errors.

Thanks in advance.

On my day off i managed to install gargoyle on the following:

Open-Mesh OM2P-HS(link) by following this guide (ex. 'open-mesh-flash-ng 1 name_of_flashfile.bin'), the result is pretty unstable, crashes when i navigate the options often.

Ubiquiti Unifi(had issues due to naming errors, something about XM, BZ invalid naming, gargoyles own official image also had this issue, instead i had to use this persons modified image(link) to get the ball rolling, loaded luci, then downloaded the official gargoyle sysupgrade(link) then upgraded directly through luci, the result is very stable.

Mikrotik RB951G, so far i've only been able to get latest trunk OpenWRT(link) working, i'm in the process of figuring out how to get Gargoyle loaded, any help would be appreciated.

After spent days and hours, bricked two units of TP-LINK WA-730RE V2, I was successfully flashed gargoyle on my third unit of 730RE V2 . I want to share the story:

Headache with unstable wifi using original firmware, I search on google about how to make its wifi stable. I never know about third party firmware. This is new for me. So, after read here http://www.dd-wrt.co.id/phpBB2/viewtopi ... b8ef036e2d, I flashed my first 730RE V2, success, but LAN Port only work for configuring ddwrt web page, can not work for bridging Wireless and LAN Connection. So, I upgrade with latest version of ddwrt, it bricked, must be I flashed with the wrong version. But never mind.

Move to openwrt forum, inspired by this page https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=42236, I flashed my second unit with STABLE openwrt firmware for TP-LINK WA-741ND V4, success and work great. But, I prefer to have GUI, so I installed luci. After playing around with luci, I interested with gargoyle, so I flashed back to original firmware with mtd method, bricked, I was do something wrong for sure. Once again, never mind.

Think hard, if firmware openwrt for 741ND V4 works for my second 730RE V2, and read in the forum that gargoyle based on openwrt, I brave myself to flashed my third unit with gargoyle 1.6.1 for 741ND V4, then abracadabra, success, it work great. Now I have a great router/client/repeater.

Other thing, I also success flashed my old LINKSYS WRT54GL with gargoyle 1.4.7. This old router works great with gargoyle, I almost throw it because of its age, I decide to keep it longer.

Now, I have challenge to flash my other two units of TP-LINK, model WA-701ND V2. If somebody have success flashed 701ND V2 with gargoyle, please inform. Read in some forum, no luck. I think I will do like 730RE V2, possibly bricked one or two of them. Will share the story if success.
2x TP-LINK WA730RE V2 = Bricked; 1x WA730RE V2 = Gargoyle 1.6.1
1x LINKSYS WRT54GL = Gargoyle 1.4.7
1x TP-LINK WA701ND V2 = Bricked; 1x WA701ND V2 = Gargoyle 1.6.1
1x TP-LINK WR740N V4 = Gargoyle 1.6.1

Hi Guys, the story continue:

Successfully flashed my TP-LINK WA701ND V2, with Gargoyle 1.6.1 for WR703N V1 (read somewhere in some forum, someone success flashed with openwrt for WR703N V1 to 701ND V2), after reboot, all system functioning, but LEDs (LAN and Wireless) not functioning. Not feel good if LEDs not functioning, I decide to revert back to stock firmware with mtd method, failed, did something wrong again, bricked my first 701ND V2.

Read the spec of router is the same with WA730RE V2, I flashed with the same gargoyle firmware I used for my third 730RE V2 (I bricked my first and second 730RE V2), which is gargoyle 1.6.1 for WR741ND V4, abracadabra again, work great. Now my second unit of 701ND V2 become great router/client/repeater like my third 730RE.

My conclution, TP-LINK WA701ND V2 = WA730RE V2 = WR741ND V4 = MR3220 V2. The last one, MR3220 V2, gargoyle firmware for it, not yet flash it, out of TP-LINK unit, but it should work. I assume it work because on the status of my 730RE V2, model name shown as MR3220 V2 / 741ND V4. On my 701ND V2, model name shown as itself.

Thanks a lot to GARGOYLE team for make great firmware/s.

Flash a new out of the box TP-WDR3600 v1.5 as follows:
  • 1. Downloaded gargoyle_1.6.2-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr3600-v1-squashfs-factory firmware from this site.
    2. Connected my PC via the supplied cable to port 1 of the router.
    3. Rebooted my PC (as my existing modem/router puts me on a 10.0.0 local network)
    4. Browsed to 192.168.0.1 to get to the TP Link admin page
    5. Logged in as admin user.
    6. Chose firmware upgrade.
    7. Browsed for the above file.
    8. Admin page kept prompting me to choose a file even though I had chosen the correct file.
    9. Renamed the file to wrd3600-v1.bin
    10. Uploaded file, patiently waited until firmware was flashed successfully.
    11. Upon modem restart, browser complained it couldn't find the page.
    12. Changed address to 192.168.1.1
    13. Opened can of bourbon and coke when Gargoyle came up.
