Buffalo WZR-HP-G300nh factory image..

Post by sco77 »

I was just wondering why there still is no factory to gargoyle flash image for the g300nh?

I know for all of us TFTP is fine but for new users having a factory flash image is definitely more convienient. Hell even for experienced users like myself sometimes it is tricky to get TFTP to work (I couldn't even get it to work in Windows, only Linux with network managers disabled).

Or does this router not require such to web flash from factory?

Buffalo routers have encryption built into their firmware

DD-WRT and Buffalo have a partnership agreement, so DD-WRT
gets to use their encryption to allow factory flash back and forth
from the Buffalo DD-WRT firmware to regular DD-WRT firmware etc.

Unless someone can crack their code, which is probably not likely,
or more so, not worth the time and effort since its also easy enough
to flash via TFTP or via Serial recovery, you will be stuck with having
to flash OpenWRT / Gargoyle the current way.
