x86 installation

Post by badrisuper »

Hi

I am trying to install Gargoyle in x86 router. I first installed openwrt and then I updated the firmware with Gargoyle. But after updating I am not able to access the router.

Is it the right way to install?

Thanks

If you did not preserve settings, yes this is fine.
If you preserved settings, no start again.

So which bit isn't working? Can you plug in a screen and look at the console or do any debugging?

And what image did you install?

Below are the steps I did for installation and debugging.

1. Installed Openwrt by writing the image into SSD
2. Connected through Tera term to verify Openwrt is properly installed
3. Access Openwrt console in browser and updated the firmware by selecting Gargoyle image.
4. Deselected other options to install a fresh build
5. Once updated, accessed the router throw Tera term
6. After system bootup it was displaying junk characters which is not readable
7. SSH didnt work as well
8. Not able to access through browser as well

Image used is:
Openwrt: openwrt-22.03.0-rc1-x86-64-generic-ext4-combined.img
Gargoyle: gargoyle_1.13.0-x86-64-combined-ext4.img

Thanks

I guess I have used wrong image files to install. I will try again with matching image files.

Hi

I have managed to fix the installation issue. But after installation I have only one port available and its only for LAN. How to add other ports and WAN. I tried to edit through SSH but when trying to open the /etc/config/network I am getting permission denied error. How to fix this? I appreciate your help.

Thanks
