Issues with Netgear WNDR 3700v4

Post by radiomean1 »

Hi everyone, I have successfully got Gargoyle onto a WNDR 3700 v4, and it is nearly working fine!

However, the WNDR 3700 v4 is a dual radio router (2.4 and 5 GHz) but only the 2.4 GHz radio is active.

Can you advise me how to get the 5 GHz radio going please?!

What version did you use, and what settings have you tried?
It should be very straightforward to setup 5GHz in the GUI.

Comments: 5G radio many not be detected after new install. It appeared after a power cycle.

Hi there and thanks for your replies...
I used the latest 'standard' Gargoyle build for the WNDR 3700 v4 from this website...

The issue is that the 5 GHz radio just does not show up in the gui interface - the 2.4 GHz radio is there but not the 5 GHz one...

However, I have not conciously tried the usual computer 'switch it off and on' trick as RomanHK says, so maybe I'll give that a go!

Cheers, Bill

Hi again,

OK, well, the power cycle worked fine...
2.4 and 5 GHz radios both working!
(I have seen this with OpenWRT so I should have tried it myself, sorry...)

Next question - can the Gargoyle router also work in client bridge (as opposed to client) mode?

Cheers again.

Yes, it is "wireless bridge" in the GUI

Sorry. I was not precise enough. DD wrt has client bridge ability where the bridge is transparent and DHCP etc comes from the ap you are associated with. In the wireless bridge the ip of gargoyle has to be on another subnet not the subnet of the ap. Cheers.

OK, the wireless bridge does what I want - relays DHCP from the main AP, and also has a repeater AP, so it is just what I need...

Cheers...

PS I am posting using the router in wireless bridge mode.
