Hi people,
I'm having a strange problem with upgrading from 1.11.0 to 1.12.0. and it happened to both of my routers using sysupgrade.bin from the web admin interface.
- Xiaomi r3g v1
- Netgear WNDR4300
I tried upgrading my R3G first and notices this problem, and the SSH welcome screen it's showing the same 1.11.0. Also the wireless function disappeared completely. I gave up after a couple hours of trying, and switch to a different firmware.
Today I thought I'd try upgrade my WNDR4300 from 1.11.0 to 1.12.0, and the same thing happened. The web admin interface is still showing 1.11.0 after upgrading, but wireless is working with this router.
Any idea why this occurred?
Thanks,
Mark

What file are you using to upgrade for each one?
I'd suggest a factory reset of both and trying to upgrade again.

Re: Router showing 1.11.0 after upgrading to 1.12.0
For Netgear WNDR4300 i used
gargoyle_1.12.0-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
For Xiaomi R3G i used
gargoyle_1.12.0-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-sysupgrade.tar
and both were upgraded through the web interface.
will try resetting and upgrade.

Re: Router showing 1.11.0 after upgrading to 1.12.0
Ok, something is weird here, and I don't understand why...
After I reset my WNDR4300, I change the default password, and then proceed with upgrading though the web interface.
The weird part is I can see the Ethernet lights flashing when I click "upgrade now" (and seeing Upgrading, Please Wait), but I don't think the router kick start the upgrade process afterwards.
The LEDs that lit up during reboot did't light up, and I was able to login with the old password I changed after resetting (should revert to default "password")
P.S. I didn't preserve setting, and file checksum is correct
Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Router showing 1.11.0 after upgrading to 1.12.0
By the way, when you say "factory reset" do you mean reset to manufacturer firmware? or reset to Gargoyle default config (by pressing reset button)??
Re: Router showing 1.11.0 after upgrading to 1.12.0
ok, sorry through my pure dumbness, I downloaded the "wrong" firmware.
I realised the correct firmware should be
gargoyle_1.12.0-ar71xx-nand-wndr4300-squashfs-sysupgrade.tar
got myself confused with the tl-wdr4300 firmware.
My Xiaomi R3G is in use right now, so I can't test with your suggestion. Anyhow, at least I got wndr4300 upgraded to 1.12.0

Well that definitely explains the first one.
