Samsung USB printer

Post by Profiterole »

Hi, I have an Archer C7 v5 and the latest stable gargoyle firmware. I followed the USB attached printer doc et the documentation to add my printer. So, when plugged in the computer, it works, but when plugged in the router, Windows 10 does not find it, at last I selectionned HP Jet Direct and Gargoyle display the right printer. But, when I try to print a test page, Windows says that the printer is offline.

What can I do? what can I look for?

I understand driver support is a bit hit and miss with all printers

Depending on how much time you want to put into this project I would start with OpenWRT firmware, get that working then move back to gargoyle.

Gargoyle is just a GUI for openwrt

Openwrt has a much bigger tech user base/support

I think he didn't understand how to connect a USB printer to print through a router from a computer.

So perhaps this guide will help: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/ser ... re_clients
or Gargoyle documentation: https://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/do ... ed_printer

I have good features using "HP TCP Port Monitor": http://gargoyle.romanhk.cz/HP_TCP_Port_Monitor.zip

SIPM_32 = Installation folder for 32bit Windows
SIPM_64 = Installation folder for 64bit Windows
HP_Port_Monitor_Delete.bat = Monitor Uninstaller

Thank you everyone. I already followed RomanHK gargoyle doc without success. I'll take a look at openwrt.

Step by step:

1. Connect the printer to the router with a USB cable up to 2m, turn the printer on and you should see the printer type as shown. If you see a similar message that the printer is connected, you have the printer and router ready to work and we can go to the computer settings (illustrative image from Gargoyle):

2. Install the drivers for the computer according to the instructions (https://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/do ... ed_printer) - set up the port settings as shown, the IP address is the router's address (sorry, only in Czech):

The port settings should look like this:

3. Make sure the print queue is clean:

4. Make sure the printer is not OffLine:
Image

We'll try to print a test page:

5. This line should appear for a while in the print queue, and if everything is connected correctly, the line should disappear and the printer should print:

If you have done all of this, it should work.
