TL-WR1043N/ND v3 client+AP no internet

Post by allanfan »

Trying to use client+AP mode to amplify the signal of an existing WIFI. The new WIFI can be connected, but no Internet.

I've verified that the existing WIFI has Internet connection. I'm running 1.12.0.

See attached configurations. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Configurations below. I should mention that this setup works very intermittently. I'd say about 10% of the time I have Internet, but 90% of the time no Internet.

Your WAN and LAN segments can't be in the same subnet when using this mode.
If you move Gargoyle to say 192.168.0.1, everything should start working.

After I changed the router IP, the WAN IP is gone:

still no Internet.

Confirm your wireless settings again, making sure the password of the network is still correct.

I have a similar setup with no issues. I have a relatively huge house. My system: AP {Archer C7 V5, running 1.11.0); 3 clients as wireless bridge/repeater placed strategically throughout the house. The 3 clients are cheap TP-link routers or clones {TL-WR1043ND ver 1.8 & Rosewill rnx-n300rt; all 3 running 1.10.0}.
The bridge Ip for the 3 clients are = 192.168.10.1 {different subnet} with non overlapped channel 1, 6 or 11 for clients. Stats: 5 ghz averages over 100 Mbps :D :) I love this cheap refurbished Archer C7 V5 courtesy of Amazon running Gargoyle 1.11.0; the clients, 2.4 ghz, are a little slow = averages 18 Mbps. This is acceptable since I only use it for connecting smart appliances, e.g., my smart water heater. Make sure bridge subnet is different and use non-overlapping channels. I hope this helps.
