Losing WAN connectivity

Post by bpant »

Hello

I am using NEWIFI router, uses MTK7620A chips. Its model number is known as : Newifi Y1.
While Wifi 2.4Ghz is pretty stable but it is completely loses internet after few hours of operation. Gargoyle is connected via "DHCP wired" to another router.

Steps to reproduce the problem

a. Start Gargoyle on 2.4 Ghz Wif and check Internet connectivity is working.
b. Disconnect the WAN ethernet connection for 2 minutes and then connect it back
c. While Wifi connectivity is intact, Internet connectivity is not restored

Workaround
a. Power cycle the Gargoyle sometimes fixes the problem. Say 6 out of 10 times.
b. "Restore Default Configuration", always fixes the problem.

I am able to login into router web interface/Telnet and winscp, hence happy to provide any logs .

Modem Firmware gargoyle_1.11.0-ramips-mt7620-y1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
Thanks for all your help in advance

This could be an IMG/NAT problem.
Install the latest release since @ispyisail 1.11.X where this problem (and many others) should be solved: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=12159

Thanks. 1.11.X seems to have fixed the problem. I would continue monitoring it. Thanks again.

When the problem happens, can you please run the following from the command line of the router:

Code: Select all

ping 8.8.8.8
nslookup www.google.com
and the same from the command line of a client connected to the wifi, and in addition:

Code: Select all

ping 192.168.1.1
or substitute your router's IP

Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.
