Converting from previous pre-installed gargoyle

Post by James.bailey »

My previous gargoyle router did not survive the painters who moved it around. I installed a new (tiny) one today and am accessing the internet successfully. I am not, however, accessing the router itself. On the old one:

https://xxx.xxx.xx.xx:3001

Got me in, where xxx.xx .xx.xx was what I got when searching for “my ip”. Is there a new way to get into the router from the web browser?

Remote access like that will need to be enabled in the GUI (System->Router Access).
Looks like you enabled remote web access with a port of 3001 on your previous setup.

Thank you for the replies. I can get data from ipconfig.

IPv4 Address. 184.21.254.90
Default Gateway. 184.21.252.1

But when I enter either of these to a browser, I do not get anything. Should there be a prefix and/or suffix?

(I am not trying for remote access.)

1. Are you connecting from LAN or WAN?
2. Did you use the settings backup?

I have already understood that you are connecting via LAN, sorry.

1. PC set IP to get from DHCP.
2. Put the router in default configuration - this step will be important
3. When the router starts up, the PC should get IP from DHCP (eg IP: 192.168.1.101, gateway: 192.168.1.1)
4. You Should Get on the GUI Router http://192.168.1.1/

I don't think the James.bailey gave us enough information about a WAN or LAN connection?

My guess is its a WAN connection that has been setup by someone who knew what they were doing.

I suspect that this needs to be enabled
