Reset of Alfa Hornet Ub (GPR02 Pocket Router)
Hi,
I'd like to reset my GPR02 (Afla Hornet-Ub). By "reset" I mean, take it back to the default Gargoyle settings.
I'm trying to do the equivalent of what I can do on my Gargoyle Tp-link and D-Link routers; hold in the reset button then re-configure Gargoyle from the initial setup.
I've looked around the web (and these forums) but can't find any obvious information on how to proceed. Holding in the button on the back doesn't appear to accomplish a reset (or it's a reset I'm unfamiliar with).
Details:
I managed to upgrade my GPR02 to Gargoyle 1.10 last night (gargoyle_1.10.0-ar71xx-generic-hornet-ub-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin). After this, I tried to apply the backup from my GDR01 (D-Link 835), which I'd also upgraded to 1.10. After reboot I could not get a network connection to the GPR02. That is, no Dhcp. If I forced a manual Ip, I still could get no response from the router.
I used this exact process on a Tp-Link WR1043ND an hour later. Same result, after applying the configuration restore the router wouldn't respond. In the case of the Wr1043, a reset took it back to Gargoyle factory settings and I was able to re-configure the router. Which is now allowing me to send this message...
How do I accomplish the same settings reset on my GPR02?
Thanks in advance for your help (and apologies also in advance if I missed something obvious)...

Please stop trying to restore configs from different devices.
The configs are device specific, and include fundamental device setup information like the network...

Hey Lantis, thanks for your reply. I had been getting the idea that it was a bad idea, cheers for making that explicit.Lantis wrote:Please stop trying to restore configs from different devices.

Re: Reset of Alfa Hornet Ub (GPR02 Pocket Router)
A follow on question from RomanHK's advice...
Does the GPR02 have nothing similar to more common home routers?
That is, carry out a magic sequence of button pushing and power cycling and the device resets to defaults?

Re: Reset of Alfa Hornet Ub (GPR02 Pocket Router)
Unfortunately, with some routers, the factory default settings do not work (or are configured corrupted) and therefore OpenWrt has created instructions on how to do it differently. This is a basic and standard procedure (Entering failsafe mode):

Re: Reset of Alfa Hornet Ub (GPR02 Pocket Router)
Ok,
I had a shot at entering the failsafe mode that both RomanHK and Lantis suggested.
Unfortunately I don't see the LED pattern described and shown in the YouTube video. Instead I see the following pattern immediately after I power on:
Power [Stays On]
~ 1s LAN
~ 3s WAN
~ 5s LAN
... with no further changes after this point.
I'm guessing that my earlier uses of the button on the back may have already effected the firmware on the router?
At this point, pushing the reset button multiple times doesn't appear to change the LED pattern. Neither does holding it in before or during this startup lighting sequence.

Thanks RomanHK, I had a read through.RomanHK wrote:Unfortunately, with some routers, the factory default settings do not work...
It appears that I'm only left with the expert options to get into failsafe mode. I'll try them if that ends up being my only means forward...
Re: Reset of Alfa Hornet Ub (GPR02 Pocket Router)
Mostly it is Power LED - Turn off the adapter, turn on the adapter, blink Power = hold the button (not before) - then the Power LED should still flash faster and this is a failsafe mode.
EDIT: At least that's the case, but here's another way - you have to try it.
